Building CP Rail C-424 #4235 – Pt. 1

I am starting with an Atlas Silver edition CP Rail C424 that is factory painted. The model is currently #4228 and a Phase 3 type. This has the proper headlight and number board placement on the rear hood.

I disassembled the shell from the drive and discovered the model comes with a speaker and a 21 pin connector. The plan is to put an ESU sound decoder in when the project is complete.

I model 1989 in eastern Ontario, so the engine will be close enough to run with an RS18u.

I then removed the details from the front and rear pilots.

And I began to carve off the cast pilot, taping the rest of the area to prevent nicks. My goal is to only have to touch up the paint, not repaint.

That’s where I am at so far. Still trying to find a bell and horn for this project. More on that later.
