Bedell was the junction between the CP Winchester Sub and the CP Prescott Sub. A tower stood to mark this diamond crossing, along with a station. The diamond was removed in the fall of 1967.
On my layout, the diamond was never removed. When federal government money was given to improve track conditions in the early 1980s, the CP Prescott Sub was updated and upgraded with welded rail and Ottawa-Brockville-Toronto traffic on VIA Rail was diverted from its circuitous Smiths Falls routing to the straight line routing via Prescott and Kemptville to Ottawa. This reduced overall mileage and also reduced curvature on the line.
